The Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria, ICAN, has announced the introduction of a special new programme for Accounting students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

It is Mutual Agreement Programme with Tertiary Institutions (MCAPTI) for National Diploma students and to be run alongside their curricula.

It will be handled only by ICAN professionals.

The announcement of the programme was made by the national president of ICAN, Mazi Nnamdi Anthony Okwuadigbo, on Thursday when he paid a visit to MAPOLY.

Mazi Okwaudgbo said the visit, which was majorly meant to appreciate the management of the polytechnic for maintaining good standard in training reputable accountants, coincided with the 16th investiture of the new executives of Abeokuta district of the Society of the institute.

He further revealed that the programme would elevate MAPOLY Accounting students, who might apply to become ICAN members, to be exempted from 10 out of 15 papers as against 6 out of 15 courses which was hitherto obtainable in the ICAN professional examination.

Meanwhile, the Rector, Dr. Samson Adeola Odedina, while responding to the development, expressed a special gratitude to the national president and his team for the honour done the polytechnic.

He stated that MAPOLY had about 50 ICAN members in its establishment which had been responsible largely for transparency and accountability in running a standard operation.

The Rector concluded that the management would continue to support the institute towards achieving the desired development for MAPOLY as well as ensuring egalitarianism in the society.
