Former Under Secretary General of the United Nations, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, has been officially announced as the new Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha, at the virtual meeting of the Federal Executive Council, FEC, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
It was the first time the FEC meeting was held that way and Ibrahim Gambari was at the meeting too.
He took his seat as the Chief of Staff.
Gambari, 75 years old, replaces the late Abba Kyari who died of coronavirus on April 17.
Gambari’s appointment came less than a month after the death of Abba Kyari.
Gambari who is from Kwara State was Nigeria’s Minister of External Affairs between 1984 and 1985.
