The immediate past Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Joy Nunieh, on Monday, revealed that she once slapped the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio.
His offence, according to her, was that he allegedly tried to harass her sexually.
“I slapped him. He tried to come on me,” she said.
Nunieh made the disclosure while featuring on Arise TV morning show.
The former MD who accused Akpabio of gross impropriety and attempt to make her do things that were illegal said the sexual harassment saga was part of his Plan B.
According to her, when the plan to get her do some illegal work failed, he tried to “come upon me.”
She boasted about slapping Akpabio:
“I am the only Ogoni woman, the only Nigerian woman to slap his face.
“I slapped him because of his Plan B.
“He thought since he couldn’t get me to release the money, he thought of Plan B; if he could come on me….
“He didn’t know that I’m a Port Harcourt girl.”
She added: “Yes, I am accusing him of sexual harassment.
“Akpabio is most interested in my love life.
“Did he want to be my seventh husband?
“That’s why Akpabio told the world that I am temperamental.
“You know why Akpabio will tell the world that I am temperamental? Because of that incident that I slapped him.”
The crisis between Akpabio and Nunieh became public following the investigation by the Senate ad-hoc panel over alleged mismanagement of N40 billion by the Interim Management Committee, IMC, of the NDDC.
In the course of the investigation, Akpabio claimed not to know anything about the expenditure of the commission at the time Nunieh was there.
According to him, she did not brief her.
On her part, Nunieh claimed that she was removed from office because she refused to yield to the illegal orders of Akpabio.
