President Muhammadu Buhari has dared anyone in the country to allow himself to be caught red-handed stealing public funds.

He declared that he would deal with such persons severely.

The president made the declaration on Friday in Abuja when he received a delegation of the All Progressives Congress, APC, from Benue State at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The delegation was led by Senator George Akume.

His words:  “If anybody who tries to create any impression that I prefer any group across ethnicity or religion let him dare me by being caught red handed stealing public funds. I will deal with him.’’

He described misappropriation of fund as unjust and unfair to workers.

He said it was based on his concern for the welfare of the people that the Federal Government gave bailout funds to states.

“I honestly don’t know how people sleep when workers have not been paid. The workers have to pay rent, buy food, send their children to school and they have health care to take care of.

“I assure you that my main interest is all Nigerians in all parts of the country,” the president said.

He said the government was monitoring the welfare of the workers in the country, especially as regards how the bailout funds were used by the states.

He pointed out that the government was doing its best to diversify the economy, assuring that soon Nigeria would become self sufficient in the area of food.

He said farming would be encouraged through the support of some government organs.

He spoke about the killings in some parts of the country, saying they were being carried out by people who did not have the fear of God.
