Hakeem Smith to Sanwo-Olu: Thank you for transforming our schools

The Chairman, Special Committee on Rehabilitation of Public Schools, SCRPS, in Lagos State, Mr. Hakeem Smith, has praised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for transforming schools in deplorable state to the best.

Smith gave the praise on Tuesday during the inauguration of 18-classroom for the Junior Secondary School and recreational facilities at Elemoro Community in Ibeju Lekki local government area of Lagos State.

He said the governor’s support had made it possible for his committee to deliver on its mandate.

His words: “Mr. Governor sir, we thank you for bringing back this special committee to help with the retrofitting/ renovation and transforming our schools from its deplorable states to what we can be proud of. Since inauguration, you have been a pillar of support and ensure we have delivered on our mandate.

“Your unwavering and unwearyingly support is manifested in the provision of this facilities we are commissioning today. I recall during the development of the classroom, and we came to you with a proposal for the recreation facilities, you didn’t only approve it, you were specific and detailed about the type you wanted. We most sincerely thank you sir. Almighty God we continue to preserve and protect you sir.”

Smith was also full of praise for all the major stakeholders who had in one way or the other given support to the committee to be able to carry out its work well.

He stated further: “Our distinguished Senator Gbenga Ashafa, we thank you most sincerely for believing in this course and granting our request to demolish a completed three classroom block and staff room you had earlier donated for this project. Despite your busy schedule, you created time to join Mr. Governor on this special occasion. We thank you sir.

“The Lagos State House of Assembly headed by Rt. Honourable Mudashiru Obasa and the Chairman House Committee on Education. Hon. Sanni Okanlawon. We thank you for your support.

“The Honorable Commissioner for Education, our aunty, sister and mother, for her support and corporation always. We thank you ma.

“We thank the various Lagos State ministries involved in achieving this feat in no order; MoE, MEPB, PPA, STO, CIA, MoJ, MoW&I MoST, OSAE, etc. without them we can not achieve all we have done. It is also worthy to mention the contribution of the MoW&I headed by SA works. They have made access to the school possible. Thank you for your support.

“The Body of Permanent Secretaries, particularly the Permanent Secretary MoE, Mr. Abayomi, we thank you for your support.

“Our Royal father, Oba…Thank you, sir. Ade a pelori, bata a pelese, irukere a pelowo. Kabiasi oo.”

Meanwhile, Smith has urged students of the school to make good use of the facilities provided.

He said they should take ownership of the facilities so that they could get more.
