No fewer than five persons were shot by some armed men who invaded the Dankwo Fishing Festival in Lokoja, Kogi State on Saturday.
The fishing festival holds every year and is organised by Lokoja Traditional Council.
The festival, it was gathered, was underway at the Kabawa Waterfront when three gunmen who positioned themselves in two boats arrived and shot indiscriminately at the people who were gathered for the occasion.
The invasion led to the abrupt end of the event.
The police were invited to the scene but the gunmen had disappeared.
The Kogi State Police Command while confirming the incident said five people were injured but no life was lost.
According to the spokesman of the command, DSP William Aya, the victims had been taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja.
He said two suspects had been arrested in connection with the attack.
According to him, investigation had been started and those found guilty would be prosecuted.
