Ghana: Nana Akufo-Addo gets second term, wins election

President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana has emerged the winner of the 2020 presidential election in the country.

His victory was announced by the chairperson of the electoral commission of Ghana, Jean Mensah, on Wednesday.

Akufo-Addo contested the election as the candidate of the New Patriotic Party, NPP.

Akufo-Addo was announced to have recorded 6,730,430 votes ahead of former President John Mahama’s 6,214,889 votes.

Mahama contested on the platform of the National Democratic Congress, NDC.

Total valid votes cast were 30,434,574, representing 79 per cent of registered voters.
