There will be restriction of movement for trailers, tankers and other articulated vehicles into Lagos State on Friday, February 1; Saturday, February 2; Friday, February 8 and Saturday, February 9, 2019.

The restriction was announced on Wednesday by the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC.

In a statement, the Lagos State Sector Commander, FRSC, Hyginus Omeje, stated that the decision was reached at the end of the meeting of heads of security and traffic management agencies in the state held on Tuesday at the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Police Force.

The restriction and need for compliance, Omeje said, was because Lagos State would be playing host to 2019 Access Bank International Marathon scheduled to hold on February 1 and 2.

His words: “This decision is in the general interest of the motoring public and also targeted at ensuring free flow of traffic and forestall security breaches on the highways and other roads on the stated days.”

Omeje said accordingly, a joint team of traffic and security agencies had been set up to ensure strict compliance with this directive and the affected motorists found wanting would be severely reprimanded.
