The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has warned the people of Lagos State to be very cautious in order to avoid disaster as a result of flood.
The warning was issued on Friday in a statement by the Acting Assistant Zonal Coordinator, South West Zonal Office, NEMA, Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, in view of the heavy rainfall in the state.
The agency was specific about residents in 13 local government area of the state, saying that 2021 Annual Flood Outlook had predicted more flooding in the areas.
The areas, it stated, were Lagos Island, Eti-Osa, Alimosho, Amuwo Odofin, Ikeja, Ojo, Kosofe, Apapa, Epe, Oshodi-Isolo, Shomolu, Surulere and Ajeromi /Ifelodun LGAs are advised more to be careful when it rains.
NEMA advised residents, drivers and pedestrians on what to do to avoid disaster.

Residents of Lagos State have been enjoined to imbibe utmost safety precautions in view of the ongoing heavy downpour in the State.
The residents must take note of the road and bridges in their routes to make them clear for use.
They must avoid driving when the flooding water reaches the half of the wheels of their vehicles. Once the rainwater gets to this level on your vehicle it sweep off your vehicle. Kindly park and move on to higher ground for safety.
Those walking must avoid trekking now. The rainwater must have risen above our ankles, once it happens like this, the flooding water have the capacity to carry us off.
Teachers are also strongly advised to keep the children back in classrooms, no matter the time frame the rainfall last in other to safeguard the lives of the children as they are fond of playing in the rain.
People living in buildings that are known to have signs of danger must report to the appropriate Agencies for assistance.
