The panel set up by Anambra State government to investigate alleged forgery of Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, result by Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma, has submitted its report to the governor of the state, Charles Soludo.
In the eight-page report dated July 7, 2023, made available to FrontPage, the panel found the 19 years old candidate guilty of falsification of result.
Recall that Mmesoma displayed a result showing she scored 362 whereas the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, which conducted the examination said she actually scored 249.
The examination body accused the candidate of forgery.
Following the controversy that greeted the claim and Mmesoma’s protest to the state government, a panel was set up to investigate the issue to determine who was actually the liar.
Upon conclusion of its findings, the panel declared that Mmesoma was the liar as she had confessed to having indeed forged the result which she had displayed with 362 marks.
The findings of the committee read:
“The result released by Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) with respect to the UTME score of Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma is 249.
“The result paraded by Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma with aggregate score of 362 is fake as buttressed by the very significant and instructive variations in the registration number, date of birth, centre name and other infractions.
“Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma admitted that she manipulated the fake result herself, using her phone.

“The Principal of Anglican Girls’ Secondary School, Mrs. Edu Uche, and the education secretary, Diocese of Nnewi (Anglican Communion) expressed dismay at the conduct of Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma.”
The panel made some recommendations as a result of the outcome:
“That Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma tenders an unreserved written apology to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the School (Anglican Girls’ Secondary School, Uruagu Nnewi) and the Anambra State Government. This should be done immediately.
“Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma should undergo a psychological counselling and therapy.
“All prospective candidates for JAMB should adhere strictly to guidelines, processes and procedures of the examination body.”
In its conclusion, the panel applauded JAMB for its painstaking job, saying the outcome of the findings would correct the wrong impression in the public domain.
It also thanked the governor for giving the panel to carry out the probe.
