The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, ICPC, has charged corps members to wage total war against corruption lest they face the dire consequences.

The ICPC State Commissioner for Osun and Ondo states, Alhaji Baba Alaro Shuaib, made the charge when he addressed the 2019 Batch ‘C’ (Stream 1) corps members during the orientation course recently.

Shuaib who was represented by Mr. Akinleye Adegboyega, while expressing the commitment of the commission to stamp out corruption in the country said that the agency was honoured to partner with the NYSC  by mobilising the productive strata of the society to wage war against corruption.

Adegboyega stressed that corruption was not limited to financial crimes alone but included using official position to take advantage of others or to seek personal gratification at the expense of institution or agency one might represent.

The ICPC official declared that Nigeria was under-developed economically as a result of unbridled corruption caused by insatiable greed in the land and admonished corps members to demand probity and accountability from their leaders.

Adegboyega encouraged the youths represented by the corps members to report all forms of corrupt practices, join in the campaign against corruption and volunteer to become an advocate for the crusade.

He disclosed that ICPC was empowered through Act of Parliament to investigate, prosecute, enforce laws against corrupt individuals or corporate entities and mobilise Nigerians towards fighting and eradicating it.
