The Federal Executive Council, FEC, on Friday approved the budget proposal for 2019.
The FEC meeting is a special one presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.
FEC meeting holds every Wednesday.
The decision of FEC was announced shortly after the meeting by the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udo-Udoma, when he spoke with State House Correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
While not giving the details of the budget, the minister said the proposal would be forwarded to the National Assembly as is required by the law.
The date for the presentation would be agreed upon with the National Assembly.
Said he: “They will be presented to the National Assembly; we will have to consult them in terms of the date of that presentation.
“The budget is the president’s budget; it is the president that presents it; I will be usurping his authority if I give further details; he presents the budget.
“We are hoping to be in touch with the National Assembly as soon as possible.
“They have to agree to the date they will receive the budget; we are going to be in touch with them immediately; but the budget is ready.
“If I speculate on that, I will be encroaching on the role of the National Assembly.’’
