Normal flight activities have started at the Port Harcourt International Airport on Sunday as it was declared re-opened.
Recall that the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, was declared the airport temporarily closed on Saturday following the bush fire incident near the area.
The essence of the closure, the General Manager, Corporate Affairs, FAAN, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, said to ensure that the airside was cleared of smoke and ensure that normalcy was restored at the airport.
Announcing the re-opening of the airport, she said that the situation was normal for activities.
“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria wishes to inform the general public that the Port Harcourt International Airport has now been re-opened to operations.
“This is by following a careful evaluation and mitigation of the impact of the bush fire earlier reported around the airport and the dissipation of smokes around the air side,” she said.
