One of the most curious things I see on social media is the preaching by some to others that they should not curse Nigeria, however disappointed or pained they are. I don’t, can’t and never will understand the need to preach to those minded to curse. I won’t preach to anyone angry enough to curse because there are reasons to be berserk and I think the curses carry all the menace of a drinking straw.
If the words of people’s mouths carry any potency, they’d-individually-decree abundance into their own lives.
Those things are impotent. Absolutely impotent, including those spat out when people strip or “naked themselves”. If the words of people’s mouths carry any potency, they’d-individually-decree abundance into their own lives. That can multiply and we can have a society in which everything goes on swimmingly. But baba is lie. Those curses mean zilch. As earlier stated, there are reasons to be bitter and they are as long as wagons on a train.

But curses don’t do nothing. For decades, preachers of the two major faiths and some members of the indigenous faith clergy have cursed the enemies of Nigeria non-stop. Old women have stripped and belted out curses louder than the Anfield crowd does You’ll Never Walk Alone. What has resulted from that? Nothing. It is just gum-slapping. I’m angry; very angry, but I not going to curse because doing so is of no use. It does not matter whether or not your eyes narrow into slits and you were shooting off flecks of spittle when delivering those curses. Sadly.
I understand the anger and people should leave others to curse. I think some of those cursing the country have arrived at situation in which the prayers and/ or prophetic declarations they keep getting told to say/make for the country look like they aren’t going to yield fruits. “Whether the IMF likes it or not, the Naira will rise again,” declared a famous preacher four years ago. He might want to review his position. Non-stop calls to the alales (whoever they are) have also yielded nothing. Those things, I think, aren’t more reliable than the horoscopes. Let people curse Nigeria if they want. It has no effect.
