Sen. Eze Ajoku, President of Coalition of Societies for the Rights of Older Persons in Nigeria, COSROPIN, on Thursday said exercises and eating right were major keys to good and healthy living.
Ajoku said this during a novelty football match between team COSROPIN and Young Stars as a post-Valentine celebration in Abuja.
He said that the secret of his healthy living was regular exercise and eating right.
“As a diabetic person, I cannot do without exercises, keeping fit and eating right.
“They are essential in keeping me going despite the health condition, I call on older persons to always do same,” he said.
The coalition leader who affirmed the determination of the coalition to continue to advance healthy living for older persons, said that they would play more football matches in future.
He urged his colleagues to always exercise their bodies to ward off sicknesses.
According to him, even his 104 year old mother, he encouraged her to walk around to exercise her waist.
Also, Retired Col Paul Omeruo, a former Military Administrator of Kogi State, emphasised the imperatives of exercise especially to older persons.
Omeruo said that sports was antidote to body fatigues and all manner of sicknesses, urging his colleagues to embrace exercise.
Team COSROPIN defeated the Team Young Stars 6-4.
