Lagos State government on Monday directed all pupils/students in public and private schools to stay at home.
The decision was taken in view of the tension accompanying the ongoing protest over police brutality, otherwise referred to as EndSARS.
Giving the directive, the state’s Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, said the date for the reopening of schools would be announced later.
According to her, the directive became necessary in order to ensure the safety of students, school staff and parents.
The government advised parents to protect their children from being willing tools in the hands of those who might want to cause violence hiding under the EndSARS protest.
Government said schools should employ distance teaching and learning mean such as radio, television and the social media to teach as it was done during the COVID-19 lockdown.
