Ondo State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Mrs. Grace Akpabio has challenged the workforce to emulate the outstanding behaviour of some of its retired staff who had served meritoriously.

Mrs. Akpabio threw the challenge during the retirement send forth for five personnel who retired at various times in 2019 after meritoriously completing thirty five years in service.

According to Akpabio, some of the staff were people of impeccable characters and proven integrity who served the scheme diligently.

The NYSC boss charged the retired staff to continue to live a life worthy of emulation so that the community they were retiring to would benefit from their wealth of experience and goodwill which stood them out during their service in the public sector.

The celebrants, Mr. Oluwole Oshodi; Mrs. Susan Olaleye; Mrs. Janet Akpana; Mr. Banjo Falegbe and Mr. Abiodun Adedini, appreciated the management for the honour.

Some of the staff who spoke during the celebration eulogised all the retired staff for leaving a legacy of hard work, honestly, industry and uncommon humility.

The celebrants alongside their respective family members and friends betrayed emotions as members of staff mimicked them in a brilliant manner that drew applause from the entire workforce.

The occasion was spiced with music by the NYSC band and cultural troupe which ushered in the celebrants during the procession and performed in the course of the event.

In her short remarks, the Chairperson of NYSC Ondo State Staff Welfare, Mrs. Itohan Ehimwenma, said the twin programme was organised annually to appreciate God for His faithfulness over the entire staff of the secretariat and to celebrate those who served and retired from active service meritoriously.

Ehimwenma thanked Akpabio for her unflinching support to the staff welfare association without which, she said, they would not have recorded success.

Four members of staff, Mrs. Mosunmola Alo; Mr. Tunji Ogunduboye; Mrs. Bosede Akintorinwa and Mr. Yakubu Muhammed, who distinguished themselves during the two streams of the 2019 Batch ‘C’ orientation course were recognised and honoured with plaque and cash awards.
