Chieftains of the leading opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, led by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on Monday carried out the threat to storm the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Abuja, to protest the outcome of the Presidential and National Assembly election held on February 25.
Atiku is the presidential candidate of the PDP in the election which saw the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as winner.
Challenging the outcome of the election, Atiku and others had described the exercise as fraught with irregularities hence unacceptable.
Dressed in black, the protesters which included members of the party and supporters marched from Legacy House and headed towards INEC headquarters.
Some of the protesters are the national chairman of the PDP, are Iyorchia Ayu; Atiku’s running mate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State.
