President Muhammadu Buhari has declared that he will win the Saturday presidential election.
He made the declaration shortly after casting his vote at PU003, Sarkin Yara ward, Daura, Katsina State.
He added that he would congratulate himself upon his victory.
“I will congratulate myself; I am going to be the winner,’’ he said.
The president made the remark in response to a question of whether he would congratulate the winner in case he failed to win.
He said he was pleased with the conduct of the election so far.
According to him, “so far, so good. Everything is going smoothly.”
The president and his wife, Aisha, arrived the polling centre at about 8.00 a.m. and were the first to vote.
The president who peeped into the ballot paper of his wife after she voted was quoted as saying joking to his wife after leaving the cubicle why he did that.
“I had to peep because you are from Adamawa,” he was said to have told his wife.
His main opponent, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, Atiku Abubakar, is from Adamawa State.
