Ekanola emerges Acting Vice Chancellor, University of Ibadan

Prof. Adebola Ekanola has been elected as the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan.

Ekanola is the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) of the institution.

He emerged the Acting Vice Chancellor on Monday during an election which was conducted on the directive of the National Universities Commission following the controversy that greeted efforts to get a replacement for Professor Idowu Olayinka, the Vice Chancellor.

Ekanola recorded 275 votes to defeat four other candidates.

The election process was chaired by the Provost, College of Medicine, Prof. Olayinka Omigbodun.

A former Dean of Technology and Professor of Industrial Engineering, Prof. Ayo Oluleye, recorded 80 votes; Professor of Political Science and former DVC, Adigun Agbaje, recorded 15 votes; a former Deputy Vice Chancellor and Professor of Dentistry, Gbemisola Oke, recorded 14 votes while Prof. Olanike Adeyemo recorded 13 votes.
