No fewer than 12, 000 policemen have been deployed by the Lagos State Police Command to ensure a hitch-free celebration of the muslim festival, Eid-el-Kabir.
The festival holds on Sunday.
Already, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Zubairu Muazu, is said to have directed the implementation of robust and elaborate security arrangement throughout the state by Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders and Divisional Police Officers.
According to the spokesman of the command, DSP Bala Elkana, Muazu directed them to be on ground to beef up security, carryout massive deployment of Police personnel for visibility patrols, crowd control, and adequate protection of all Eid grounds and other venues of celebrations in their areas of responsibilities.
He added that anti-crime patrols had been deployed along all major roads throughout the state for the protection and safety of travellers, commuters and other road users during the period and beyond.
He said they were under strict instructions to be civil, polite, compassionate and firm in carrying out their duties.
Intense surveillance and intelligence gathering would be maintained, special deployment and stop and search duties would be emplaced at all flash and vulnerable points, he disclosed.
He said the command had enjoined members of the public, most especially travellers and other roads users to cooperate with Police personnel deployed on stop and search duties.
Parents, he added, were advised to monitor the movements and activities of their children.
He said youths should also not engage in any violent act.
