Gold, weighing about 35 kg and estimated to cost N211 million was intercepted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The gold was being moved illegally through the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, to Dubai, when it was intercepted.

The interception was carried out on November 9 following intelligence report.

According to the Acting Head, Media and Publicity, EFCC, Mr. Tony Orilade, in a statement he made available on Tuesday, the suspect arrested in connection with it was already saying all that he knew about the case.

“Investigations are currently ongoing to unravel the suspect’s accomplices in the illegal movement of the goods.

“Meanwhile, the suspect is cooperating with operatives.

“It will be recalled that the EFCC also in March 2017, intercepted bags containing a total of N49 million cash being illegally transported out of the country through the Kaduna International Airport,” Orilade said in the statement.
