Former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has expressed confidence that with Governor Nyesom Wike leading the campaign council of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for Governor Godwin Obaseki in the coming Edo governorship election, victory is assured.
Obi who was the presidential running mate of the PDP in the last general election gave the assurance on Sunday in a congratulatory message to Wike, Rivers State governor, on his appointment as the chairman of the campaign council.
“Congratulations, Your Excellency Gov Nyesom Wike on your appointment as Chairman of @OfficialPDPNig Edo State Governorship Election National Campaign Council. I am confident that your leadership in conjunction with the outstanding team, will assure victory for our great party.-PO,” he tweeted.
Wike’s appointment was announced by the PDP on Friday.
Obaseki will be campaigning for a second term in office.
His major opponent is Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, is the chairman of the campaign council of the APC.
In the campaign team among others are Adams Oshiomhole and John Odigie- Oyegun.
The two men were national chairmen of the APC at different times.
