Mr. Francis Okiye has been removed as the Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly.
Accused of high-handedness, nine members out of the ten present at the sitting on Monday signed his letter of impeachment.
The motion for his removal was moved by the Majority leader, Henry Okhurobo.
Okiye was replaced with Marcus Onobun (Esan West State Constituency).
The development came about one month to the inauguration of Governor Godwin Obaseki for his second term in office.
