Duro Onabule: Burial programme begins today (+ Details)

The burial ceremony for Chief Durojaiye Onabule, veteran journalist and former Chief Press Secretary to the ex-Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida, begins today.

According to the programme released by the family, the exercise will begin with Evening of Songs and Tributes at Shell Hall, MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos, at 4.30 p.m.

On Thursday, the Christian Wake will hold at Grand Inn and Suites Hotel, Gateway Stadium Road, GRA, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State at 4.30 p.m.

The Funeral Service will hold on Friday at the Cathedral Church of Our Saviour, Ita Olowajoda, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State at 9.30 a.m. while the interment will follow in a private ceremony.

Onabule who died on August 16, 2022, at the age of 82, was born in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State on September 27, 1939.

He attended CMS Grammar School and School of Journalism, London.

In 1966, Onabule worked as a reporter with Daily Express and later joined the Daily Sketch.

He later returned to Daily Express.

He also worked as the London correspondent of the Express and later worked for the Daily Times in the 70s where he rose to the position of a Deputy Editor.

He was the Editor of National Concord, a newspaper owned by the late politician and businessman, Chief M.K.O. Abiola, before he was appointed as the Chief Press Secretary to Babangida.
