Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has exemplary and remarkable leadership qualities in the legislature and needs to be celebrated.
This is the position of the Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, who spoke on the occasion of the 51 years birthday of Dogara.
The governor made his remark in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Charles Aniagwu.
He said he had watched the Speaker’s leadership and political trajectory with keen interest and discovered that he was one of Nigeria’s most talented yet untainted politicians who had demonstrated amazing leadership qualities in his service to the nation.
The statement reads: “On behalf of the Government and people of Delta State, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa warmly felicitates with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, as he turns 51 years.
“Governor Okowa joins the National Assembly, friends and family of the charismatic Speaker in celebrating 51 years of remarkable achievements and service to mankind.
“The governor extols Dogara’s humility, simplicity and discipline in providing unblemished leadership for the lower house for over three years by creating a harmonious atmosphere for debates and passing of bills.
“Governor Okowa affirms that the Speaker’s personal attributes of selflessness, maturity and friendliness have contributed immensely to the relationship between the Executive and the Legislature, resulting in the passage of bills that have direct impact on Nigerians.
“Recalling his personal interactions with the Speaker, and having followed his political trajectory in the House of Representatives, Governor Okowa believes Nigeria’s future is bright with exemplary leaders like Speaker Dogara.
“Governor Okowa prays that the Almighty God will grant the Speaker longer life, good health and wisdom to serve the country and humanity.”
