Dereliction of duty: Umahi suspends commissioner, aide

Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State on Friday announced the suspension of the state’s Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Chief Emmanuel Uguru, over alleged official negligence and dereliction of duty.

Umahi also suspended Mrs Obianuju Alo, his Senior Special Assistant on Education, over similar offence of negligence and dereliction of duty.

The information is contained in a statement signed by Dr Kenneth Ugbala, the Secretary to the State Government, and made available to newsmen in Abakaliki.

According to the statement, Uguru and Alo were to proceed on one month working suspension with immediate effect.

“The Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Chief Emmanuel Uguru, and SSA to the governor on Education, Dr Obianuju Alo, are hereby directed to proceed on one month working suspension, with immediate effect.

“The working suspension is as a result of negligence and dereliction of duty; hence all concerned are requested to take note and ensure strict compliance to this directive,” the statement reads in part.

Umahi had earlier in the day suspended Chief Emmanuel Obasi, his Principal Secretary, for dereliction of duty.
