Decadence: FG charged to declare state of emergency in education sector

The federal government has been charged to declare a state of emergency in the education sector following the level of decadence.

President of the 1981 set of Iwo Grammar School, Mr Alade Adeleke, gave the charge, while speaking during the 40th graduation anniversary of the set.

According to him, doing that would enable the government to do a proper assessment of the gaps in the sector and embark on necessary interventions that would improve the standard of education in the country.

He bemoaned the level of decadence in public school, describing it as an eyesore which needed urgent intervention.

Alade also admonished the government to increase budgetary allocation to the education sector, adding that no effort should be spared in ensuring quality teaching and learning in public schools throughout the country.

The anniversary which brought the 1981 set of the school together after 40 years, featured a cocktail and the flagging-off of the anniversary project in the school.

The occasion also afforded members of the set of the school to contribute their quota to the development of their alma mata.
