A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oyo State, Mr. Ayodeji Karim, has said the appointment of Mr. Sunday Dare as the Minister of Youth and Sports, will bring greater and unprecedented progress to youth and sports development in the country.
Karim who contested for the governorship ticket of the party in the last general elections, in a statement issued in Ibadan yesterday, expressed confidence that the antecedents of Dare as an outstanding journalist, an international youth trainer of repute and impactful politician had prepared him adequately to succeed on the job.
He added that the new minister with his experience, knowledge and competence would serve meritoriously in any other ministry, stating that “earning the portfolio of Youth and Sports at this moment when the government intends to focus more on youths was a confirmation of the trust the President has in him.”
Karim remarked that it was very heartwarming that the minister had on assumption of office promised to unlock the potentials of youths in the various parts of the country beyond sports and that he was not going to concentrate all efforts on soccer at the expense of other games capable of expanding the nation’s frontiers in sports.
“I am highly impressed with his smooth take off as the minister of Youth and Sports. He has equally exhibited a good grasp of administration and leadership, the two vital qualities needed to succeed as a minister. I am very hopeful that he would bring about the much turn around we require in the development of youth and sports generally in our country. Certainly, he would make the President and Nigeria proud.”
While congratulating Dare on an excellent take off, he felicitated with the leadership and members of the APC in Oyo State and all the people of the pacesetter state for having an excellent representative in the national cabinet.
Karim further declared that all the former gubernatorial aspirants in the state were with Dare, noting that they had resolved to give him their total support.
