Ogun State governor, Mr. Dapo Abiodun, on Friday, reacted to the swipe at him by the All Progressives Congress, APC, national leader and presidential aspirant, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
In continuation of his meeting with APC delegates across the country ahead of the party’s presidential primary, Tinubu, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, declared that without him, Abiodun would not have been the governor of the state.
Tinubu who spoke in Yoruba, made the declaration apparently against the backdrop of Abiodun’s support for Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s presidential ambition against his (Tinubu’s).
Said Tinubu: “That one that is sitting down behind me, Dapo, could not have become a governor without me? We were all in the stadium where they tore all the posters. Even the candidacy of the party, they didn’t want to give it to him.”
Although the governor did not say a word at the occasion in reaction, he took to his social media handle later to write what was an obvious response.
His words: “I am not an emperor by any chance and this is not my family inheritance.
“I am holding this position in trust for all the people of this state and I have vowed to be fair, just and equitable and this is the solemn agreement I made between the Almighty God and myself.”
