Osun State government has announced the easing of the lockdown on four of its local governments – Ilesha East, Ilesha West, Atakumosa East and Atakumosa West.

The lockdown was imposed about a week ago to stem the increase in the number of coronavirus cases in the state.

The announcement of the easing of lockdown was made on Monday in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Wole Oyebamiji, in Osogbo.

The easing, he said, commenced Monday midnight.

The top government official said the decision of the government followed the assurance from the traditional and religious leaders among other stakeholders from the affected local government areas.

He however warned that there should be strict adherence to the measures put in place by the government to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

His words: “Notwithstanding the ease of the lockdown, enforcement of safety protocols, especially the use of nose mask in public places must be continued in the axis, and non-adherents will be sanctioned.

“The state government wishes to reiterate that any form of breakdown in adherence to the safety protocols against COVID-19 in the four local government areas shall force the government to impose the lockdown again.”
