Adegboyega Adegoke Resource Centre, AARC, has continued distributing palliatives to indigent residents, especially widows, in Oyo State, to cushion the effect of the hardship caused by measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
The organisation took the distribution of palliatives to Ibarapa zone, just as it warned the masses against doubting the existence of the coronavirus.
Stating that the virus is real, the organisation advised people of the state to follow all the precautionary and preventive measures put in place by medical experts and government, in order to curtail the spread.
It said with adherence to the rules, the society would come out of the pandemic stronger and make it a thing of the past.
The local governments that benefitted from the second batch of the philanthropic gesture from the Centre include Ibarapa North, Ibarapa East and Ibarapa Central.
It would be recalled that few weeks ago, the Centre commenced the distribution of N5,000 cash palliative each to 120 widows in six local governments in the state.
The local governments that benefitted from the first batch were Ibadan South-West, Ibadan North-West, Ibadan North, Ibadan North-East, Ibadan South-East and Ido.
While presenting the N5,000 cash palliative at Igbo Ora Town Hall, to each of the widows from the three local governments in Ibarapa geo-political zone of the state, the founder and chief executive officer of the centre Chief Adegboyega Adegoke, said same gesture of financial assistance had been given to other widows from six local governments few weeks ago.
Adegoke said the organisation felt it was necessary to also extend the gesture to other part of the state aside the six local governments in Ibadan metropolis, hence, the turn of local governments in Ibarapa zone.
While counseling the grassroots not to panic because of the pandemic he said they should equip themselves with the information from the reliable sources on preventing the disease.
“Coronavirus is affecting the world economy, people are hungry, government said people should stay at home, we have to give them something to be able to cushion the effects because they must eat. That is why we took it upon ourselves to provide stipend to 120 widows in first batch and another 60 widows for the second batch.
“We need to stop the spread of Coronavirus, that is why it is compulsory to give palliatives to the people before we can stop them from going out.
“We need to assist them, that is why we deem it fit to commence this programme. We started with six local governments within Ibadan few weeks ago, here we are today in Ibarapa given same gesture to three local governments that comprises Ibarapa zone.
“Prevention is better than cure and if we all follow all the precautionary and preventive measures put in place by medical experts and government, we would all come out of the pandemic stronger and the pandemic would be a thing of the past in no time.”
