Covenant University appoints Raufu as international visiting scholar

An American-based don, Dr. Abiodun Raufu, has been selected as an international visiting scholar by Covenant University, Otta, Ogun State, for the 2021 academic year.

Raufu who is an Assistant Professor at The Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana was a Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of National Mirror Newspapers.

A well-travelled journalist-cum university lecturer, Raufu was Editor of Nigerian Tribune.

Raufu will be based in Covenant University’s Department of Political Science where he will teach Advanced Administrative Law to postgraduate students of the university and also collaborate in research activities with some scholars in the university.

The appointment will run from May-August 2021 during which Raufu will be on summer holiday and he will return to his base in the United States at the end of the period.

In his reaction, Raufu described the appointment as an honour.

His words: “It’s a great honour to be invited by Covenant University which is regarded as one of the best universities in Africa to be part of its faculty and to engage its students in intellectual discourse.

“I expect to make the period count not only in terms of imparting knowledge to the students and also learning from them in return but also to have time to collaborate with some of the university’s brilliant faculty members in research about germane issues affecting Nigeria in particular and Africa in general.”
