A corps member, Israel Ayodeji Sunday, has provided a four room toilet facility at Alamo Grammar School, Itaogbolu in Akure local government of Ondo State.
The corps member also provided 40 each of face mask, hand sanitiser and hand washing liquid soap for staff of his place of primary assignment, Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, OSOPADEC, in Oba Ile.
Inaugurating the projects, the State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps, Mrs. Grace Akpabio eulogised the corps member executing such huge projects during the COVID 19 pandemic.
Akpabio who was elated at the huge sacrifice made by the member of the service corps when she said others were complaining of lack of both financial and material resources posited that posterity would be kind to him in his future endeavours.
The state coordinator who was represented by Assistant Director/Head, Corps Deployment and Relocation Branch, Mr. Henry John Suru, admonished other corps members to emulate the spirit of giving which Israel Ayodeji had cultivated.
“My dear children in the national service, you do not have to wait until when you are rich before you can assist the society and I want to let you know that it is more blessed to give than to receive.”
The NYSC boss then charged the recipient of the toilet to put the facility into good use and maintain it properly so that others could be encouraged to do more for the school.
“We all know that our maintenance culture in this part of the world is worrisome and I want to appeal to you to put this toilet facility into good use so that more benefits will come your way,” she said.
The representative of the principal of Alamo Grammar School, Itaogbolu, Mrs. Catherine Anike Akinola, appreciated the NYSC scheme for always being the vanguard that attracts development to various communities across the country.
Akinola, who is the vice principal, on behalf of the school promised to maintain the facility and disclosed that the college would not waiver to support good initiative of corps members whenever they extended invitation to them.
Mr. Megi Kimikiyo who received the personal protective materials on behalf of OSOPADEC chairman lauded the initiative of the corps member.
Mr. Kimikiyo used the occasion to call on good spirited and philanthropists in the society to establish and maintain good rapport with the NYSC in order for her to achieve the mandate of the scheme.
“No institution or agency no matter how buoyant and strong financially can achieve set goals without the support and encouragement from the good citizens of the society. I am calling on you all to support NYSC in her quest to build a better society.”
The initiator of the project, Israel Ayodeji Sunday expressed his gratitude to the management of the NYSC for creating enabling environment for him to impact the society during his service year.
Corps member Israel with code number OD/19C/0334 thanked everyone who contributed to making him a fulfilled individual.
