The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Sunday announced 14 days holiday for civil servants in the state as part of the precautionary measures against the spread of coronavirus.
The civil servants affected are those from Grade Level 1 to 12.
The governor who made the declaration at the State House, Marina, Lagos, said the holiday would start on Monday.
“Lagos State civil servants from Grade Level 1 to 12 should stay at home for the next 14 days with effect from tomorrow, 23rd of March, 2020,” he said.
While thanking religious leaders for their co-operation in ensuring that gatherings were limited, the governor implored traditional leaders to sensitise their communities to adhere to the directive over social gatherings.
His words: “We have noticed that some mosques were closed on Friday and some churches today (Sunday) members worshipped from home.
“We also want to use this opportunity to urge our traditional leaders to sensitise their communities on the need to avoid public gatherings.”
