The rescue operation at the three storey building which collapsed Saturday morning in Lagos has ended with two people dead.
A total of eight persons were involved.
One of the persons initially rescued – a child – died later.
Another child was found dead when she was recovered from the collapsed building.
That made the number of persons found dead to be two.
A man who is said to be the father of the children was rescued alive.
So also was a woman.
It was gathered that the families were new occupants of the building.
Former tenants, according to Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye of National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, were said to have been moved out following information that there would be a renovation of the building.
The developer of the building was reported to have brought the new tenants in while the renovation was going on.
The three storey building collapsed, 20 Freeman Street, Lagos Island, Lagos, collapsed at about 3.00 a.m.
