Christmas is a period to remember the fundamentals of humanity which include sharing and kindness to others, Dr. Abiodun Raufu, has declared.
Raufu made the declaration on Christmas day as the Abiodun Raufu Foundation went to different parts of Ibadan, Oyo State, to celebrate the occasion with street children.
Some of the areas the foundation which was led by Raufu visited and distributed food item include Challenge, Iwo Road and Sabo.
“Christmas is a period to remember the fundamentals of humanity which include sharing and kindness to others.
“It occurred to me that while we are all celebrating Christmas in some form of opulence with more than enough to eat, is important to remember the less-privileged who may have little or nothing eat. That explains why I am leading my people and well wishers to distribute food to these young people in the spirit of Christmas,” Dr. Raufu said.
He said the decision to concentrate on indigent children came out of the fact that these children suffer as a result of parental and societal neglect and could not be blamed for their plight.
“We are all guilty of the sorry state of our country today. I really wish I can do more as it breaks my heart to see these young people running after motor vehicles to beg for money every day,” he said.
