Two persons have been arrested by the police in Lagos in connection with child trafficking, while two victims were rescued.
The suspects are 30 years old Chukwunonso Blessing of 23 Masebinu Street, Igbede, Ojo and 40 years old Chukwunoso Happiness.
The two claimed to be husband and wife.

The police, in a statement by its spokesman in Lagos, DSP Bala Elkana, said the female Chukwunonso involved in alleged child trafficking was arrested around Alaba International Market with two children – 6 years old Joshua James, and 3 years old Samuel Gbawune.
They were trying to board a vehicle to Onitsha, Anambra State when she was arrested.
The statement by the police reads: “On 31/10/2019 at about 2030hrs, acting on information from a credible source, detectives from Ojo Division led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Abdullah Malah, one Chukwunonso Blessing ‘f’ 30yrs of No 23 Masebinu Street, Igbede, Ojo was arrested.
“She was seen along Alaba International Market with two children namely Joshua James ‘m’ 6yrs and Samuel Gbawune ‘m’ 3yrs trying to board a vehicle to Onitsha, Anambra State.
“Upon questioning, she claimed that the boys were adopted by her husband, one Chukwunoso Happiness ‘m’ 40yrs from a Motherless Baby home in Jos, Plateau State and brought to Lagos.
“That she was taking them to Onitsha to meet her husband.
“01/11/2019 at about 0700hrs the said husband was also arrested by the Police.
“He confessed to have bought the kids at the sum of N140,000 from one Mama Oyoo ‘f’ of Jos township.
“The kids were recovered.
“Efforts are emplaced to identify their parents and reunite them.
“The command calls on motor park operators, unions and well-meaning Nigerians to keep an eye on passengers with kids that appear in suspicious manner.”
