An associate of President Muhammadu Buhari, Malam Samaila Isa Funtua, is dead.
His death was announced by the president’s media aide, Bashir Ahmad, on his Twitter handle on Monday.
His tweet: “Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un! Just heard about Mallam Ismaila Isa Funtua’s sudden death. This life! May Allah accept his soul, forgive his shortcomings and grant him Jannah al-Firdaus.”
Funtua died Monday night.
Meanwhile, the president has described Funtua as a greatly admired and respected person who stood by him in his political journey.
In a condolence message issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, on Monday, the president expressed sadness over the loss.
He commiserated with the family of the deceased, government and people of Katsina State, and all associates of the former president of the Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria, NPAN.
Isa was the founding Managing Director of Kaduna based Democrat newspaper.
