President Muhammadu Buhari arrived Maiduguri, Borno State, on Wednesday to declare open the Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Annual Conference.

The conference which was earlier scheduled to hold in Edo State was moved to Borno State in view of the recent attacks by the terrorists group, Boko Haram, on soldiers.

The Metele Village attack left over hundred soldiers dead.

Holding of the conference in Borno is believed to be designed to boost the morale of the soldiers doing battle with the terrorists.

The president is expected to address the soldiers to encourage them.

The conference offers opportunities for the Nigerian Army to do a general assessment of their activities with the intention of doing better.

Meanwhile, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is presiding over the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting in Abuja.

The meeting is usually chaired by the president but following Buhari’s trip to Maiduguri, Osinbajo is presiding.
