Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly referred to as Sunday Igboho, has been arrested.

His arrest was effected in Contonou, Benin Republic where he was said to be attempting to escape to Germany.

In a report by Sahara Reporters, an online newspaper, Igboho, according to a source, was arrested Monday night by security operatives in Cotonou and plans were afoot to return him to Nigeria.

Another newspaper, The Punch, also quoting a source asserted that Igboho had been arrested.

Recall that the Department of State Service, DSS, declared Sunday Igboho wanted on July 2 after raiding his Ibadan residence.

The DSS directed him to surrender himself or risk being fished out.

He was said to have been on the run when DSS operatives stormed his Ibadan residence.

During the raid carried out by the security agency in Igboho’s house, two persons were killed while 12 others were arrested.

According to the spokesman of the security agency, Dr. Peter Afunanya, Igboho’s residence was stormed based  on intelligence that he had stockpiled arms in the place.

Some arms and charms said to have been found in his residence were displayed by the DSS at a press briefing.

The DSS said Igboho and his group, in the guise of campaign for self-determination, had become well-armed and determined to undermine public order.

The arrests and seizures, the agency said, confirmed the grand plan by Igboho to wage a violent insurrection against the Nigerian State.
