The leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN, otherwise referred to as Shi’ite, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, is back in Nigeria from India.
He arrived with his wife, Zeenat, at about 12 noon on Friday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The duo had travelled to India for medical treatment on the order of Kaduna High Court which granted them medical leave.
Recall that they have both been in detention since 2015 when Shi’ite clashed with the military in Kaduna State.
Following their alleged failing health, they sought for medical leave and was granted.
However, on arrival in India, El-Zakzaky complained of the situation in the hospital, saying that government was trying to frustrate his treatment as, according to him, security around him was overwhelming.
He therefore said he would prefer to be back in his country.
The Federal Government has since reacted to his allegation, saying that he was simply not co-operating with the Indian doctors who insisted on their own terms.
He was also said to be seeking to operate out of the conditions given to him by the Kaduna High Court which granted him the medical leave abroad.
He also spoke on the decision to return to Nigeria.
“We hope this will be for the best,” he said.
