Senegal have emerged the winner of the African Cup of Nations, AFCON, 2021 beating the Pharaoh of Egypt 4 – 2 on penalty shootout.
A tension-soaked match, the two teams failed to produce a goal throughout the 90-minute duration and the extra time.
During the penalty shootout, Mohamed Abdelmonem of Egypt lost his penalty.
Egypt goalkeeper, Gabaski, saved the kick by Bouna Sarr.
Edouard Mendy also saved the spot-kick by Mohamed Lasheen.
The match ended 4-2 in favour of Senegal.
To qualify for the final, Egypt defeated Cameroon while Senegal defeated Burkina Faso.
It is the first time Senegal is winning the African Cup of Nations.
On Saturday, hosts Cameroon came back from three goals down to beat Burkina Faso on penalty to finish third in the competition.
