The Federal Government has apprehended Nnamdi Kanu, acclaimed leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, who has been on the run after jumping bail.

The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Mr Abubakar Malami announced this on Tuesday in Abuja, the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, said.

Details of how, where and when he was arrested are still unknown.

It would be recalled that Kanu is facing trial over charges of treasonable felony.

The case was instituted against him at the Federal High Court in Abuja by the government following alleged violence carried out by his group, IPOB, in the campaign for Republic of Biafra.

He was granted bail in April 2017 on health ground but jumped bail after refusing to obey the conditions he was given.

Kanu later fled following an alleged raid on his home by the Nigerian military in September 2017.

He resurfaced in Israel and continued his campaign against the Nigerian government and the call for Republic of Biafra.
