BREAKING: Makinde wins Oyo guber election, gets second term

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared Governor Seyi Makinde the winner of the Oyo State governorship election held on Saturday.

Makinde is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The state Returning Officer, Olusola Kehinde, announced Makinde’s victory on Sunday.

His words: “That Makinde Oluseyi having satisfied the requirement of the law is declared winner of the poll.”

According to the Returning Officer, Makinde who sought for a second term as governor polled 563,756 votes, beating Teslim Folarin of the All Progressive Congress, APC, who polled 256,685 votes, to the second position.

The candidate of Accord Party, Adebayo Adelabu, polled 38,357 votes.

Out of the 33 local government areas of the state, Makinde won 31.
