Former head of the Interim National Government, ING, Chief Ernest Adegunle Shonekan, is dead.
The ING was put in place after the military government of General Ibrahim Babangida exited.
Shonekan, according to TVC report, died at the age of 85 in Lagos.
He was the head of the ING between August 26 and November 17 1993 when he was ousted in a palace coup led by the late General Sani Abacha who was Secretary of Defence.
Shonekan was born on May 9, 1936 in Lagos.
He hails from Abeokuta, Ogun State, and was one of six children of his parents.
His father was a civil servant.
Educated at CMS Grammar School and Igbobi College in Lagos, he later got a degree in Law from the University of London and was called to the bar.
He also attended Harvard Business School.
