BREAKING: COVID-19: Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, is dead

Mallam Abba Kyari, Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, is dead.

He died on Friday, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said in a statement.

Funeral arrangement, Adesina said, would be announced shortly.

Recall that Kyari tested positive to coronavirus in March and had been receiving treatment until his death.

The statement announcing his death reads in full:

CHIEF OF STAFF TO PRESIDENT, ABBA KYARI, PASSES ON

The Presidency regrets to announce the passage of the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari.

The deceased had tested positive to the ravaging COVID-19, and had been receiving treatment. But he died on Friday, April 17, 2020.

May God accept his soul.

Funeral arrangements will be announced shortly.
