BREAKING: Buhari not addressing the nation on COVID-19 on Monday

There will not be a nationwide broadcast by President Muhammadu Buhari today on COVID-19, the Presidency has declared.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, made this known on Monday on his Twitter handle. .

He said no broadcast was planned.

The president’s media aide said instead, the update on the COVID-19 situation in the country would be made as usual at the media press briefing by the Presidential Task Force.

The tweet reads: “No presidential broadcast on COVID-19 updates today. None was planned. Rather, the Presidential Task Force will during its usual media briefings bring the nation up to speed on the next steps.”

Reports have been rife in the media that the president would give an update on the activities of the government in the battle against COVID-19 in a nationwide broadcast on Monday.

It was also added that the president would give new direction on the battle.

The reports were based on the meeting between Buhari and the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 led by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, on Sunday.
