BREAKING: Balogun Market fire: Second building collapses, more may go

A second building has collapsed as fire fighters continue to battle to put out the fire engulfing Balogun Market, Lagos Island, Lagos.

There are also indications that more may collapse.

One of the distressed buildings had earlier collapsed.

Reports from the scene of the incident indicate that no life was lost when the building collapsed.

The building that has just collapsed was said to have become weak.

Some others are said to be in the same state and may collapse.

Major agencies relevant to the efforts to put out the fire are said to be on ground and had continued to put battle the fire.

They include the Lagos State Fire Service; Federal Fire Service; Lagos State Emergency Management Agency; the Police, Red Cross, Federal Road Safety Commission.

The reports indicate that the cluster of buildings had made it difficult for the fire fighters to get to the source of the fire.

The fire fighters are also having a hectic time as they contend with hoodlums in the battle to put out the fire.

The police are also battling to control the surging crowd as some of those present try to take pictures or record the burning buildings.
