A Kaduna High Court has discharged and acquitted leader of the proscribed Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and wife, Zeenat.
The two persons were said to have been freed on Wednesday by the judge, Gideon Kurada, who upheld their no case submission.
The judgement which lasted eight hours was said to have been given behind closed door.
El-Zakzaky and his wife had been standing trial since 2015.
They were accused of culpable homicide, disruption of public peace and unlawful assembly among others.
Members of the IMN had at different times protested the detention of their leader and his wife.
The protests led to loss of lives.
